Plan An Emerald New Year's Eve

Still need ideas for your New Year's Eve Party? Plan and Emerald Green night.
Celebrate the night in the color of the new year. Incorporate the color into your
party's elements, from dinnerware to your desserts, your pillows and even your
dress. Go all out or just add a touch of emerald with a necklace - I'm currently
obsessed with the Shorouk dazzler featured below - or a simple but
dashing bow tie.

Holiday Sparkle...

This time of year just shouts out sparkle! Christmas lights, holiday ornaments and..somehow..jewels and glitter everywhere.
So here are a few ideas of how to add a little sparkle to your december!

add a little glitter to your manicure
(note: If you're doing a whole nail, I would opt for
the ring finger, rather than the middle finger)

celebrate with sparklers on your cake/dessert

put a smile on someone's face, make it extra
special and use glitter ribbon

get experimental or a little daring with your make up
and try a line of glitter eyeliner over your regular black liner.
just one skinny line, a little goes a long way...

Get the kids involved and create DIY, home-made
christmas ornaments, or seasonal decor with glitter and glue!

...or pair a sequins top with a neutral, plain maxi skirt, or your favorite
pair of pants for a holiday party/outing

How do you get your sparkle on?

Unique & Themed Dining Rooms

Dining rooms can be an art in themselves, from the centerpieces, to the chairs, to the artwork on that adorn the walls...or anything really that's part of the room makes a difference in the over all look. Here are some fun and unique ones that I love

A chic and luscious cafe/restaurant style dining room

mixing old and new. a frame adorned wall, woodsy table, and ghost chairs

A country shabby-chic, pastel palette, dining room

jade and mint, ombré green tones make for a serene dining space here

 monochromatic and rustic...

A see-through dining table?Clear glass makes up most, if not all,
of this dining room. Definitely unique

A paris like, baroque-esque, inspired dining room...

This dining room's focal point are definitely those chairs. In Pantone's 2013 color of the year, these emerald green chairs go perfectly with the black and white floor  and brass & white, artistic lamp fixture

and finally..with a touch of pink

Dubai Updates...

Luckily I got to back to the land of the sun for thanksgiving! I loved being back even though it was only for four days. While I was there, I saw UAE preparing for National Day and it seems like the preparations and decor are in full gear!

Reunited with my brother!

Upon my surprise visit to my friends at my old school AUD I noticed flags, and light fixtures all around..

I also was informed about Kitsch cupcakes' special offer for National day. How pretty are these cupcakes?!?!

Organizing: Closets - Helpful Tips & Strategies - Part 1

With winter around the corner, the dropping temperatures creates for more indoor activities. It also makes for the perfect time to stay in a couple hours and organize things around the house.

There's nothing like an organized closest, so here are a few tips and strategies from the industry's professionals for organizing your closet. Today we focus on how to organize folded and hung clothes so that finding and enjoying them are way easier!

Strategy: Folding Clothes
If you prefer to fold your clothes or have a lot of clothing that is best stored folded, Meryl Starr, a professional organizer in New York and author ofThe Organizing Workbook, recommends these tips for folding clothes within your closet.

- Shelves should be about 12 inches deep, roughly the
depth of a stack of clothes. You don't want a lot of
wasted space in front or behind.

- Ventilated shelves promote airflow around folded
clothes, which cuts down on the possibility of mold,
mildew, and pests.

- Group like with like (jeans with jeans, etc.).
Same-size items stack more neatly

- Put clothes you use most in the center at eye level.

-Don't stack higher than about a foot, and leave at least
6 inches between the top of the stack and the next shelf
for easy reaching in.

- Add drawers to collect smaller items. If you don't have
drawers, use a basket or two. Position drawers below eye
level so it's easy to peer in.

Strategy: Hanging Clothes
Hanging up clothing inside a closet is an easy way to keep clothing organized, especially if you have a lot of dress clothes, suits, or dresses. Lorie Marrero, creator of The Clutter Diet online program, recommends these tips:

-- For the double-hang area, put the shortest clothes on
the top rod and hang the bottom one as high as possible
under them. Use space freed up near the floor for a shoe
rack or storage bins.

-- Organize garments by category and separate with hanging
labels; the more specific the categories the better. For example,
subdivide your shirts into short- and long-sleeve, or casual
and dressy. Bonus points: Organize by color within a category.

-Keep shoes, purses, and jewelry in hanging organizers there
are dozens on the market, so you can see them alongside your
clothes.
