3 Things to Try This Weekend

Try a different bloom

This weekend adorn your coffee table, or favourite vase/container at home with a different set of blooms than the usual. I always tend to lean towards white or light ping roses or hydrangeas, but this weekend, go for a bloom you would not usually, maybe even in a different colour, and try that out!

Try a bold lip colour

Never ventured out to the bright pinks, and deep reds? Well this weekend is the time you do. Try a bright colour. Don't want to make the plunge? Go for a matte version, or the lip butters or lip stains in bolder colours. Just make sure of two things, one: make sure your teeth are nice and white - because if they are not, it will be highlighted, and two: make sure the tone is right for your skin tone (I got an orangey red, whereas I should've gotten a blue toned red for my fair skin tone - the difference was major) So do a quick Google search for the colour you're interested in, or test out the product if you can!

Try a new health class

Try a workout you haven't yet, or have been meaning too, but never got around to. Ususally do yoga? try pilates. Used to the treadmill? try a martial arts cardio class (I did that switch two weeks ago...def worked up muscles I forgot I even had!) It's a great way to use up different muscles in the body and variety to your workout schedule, and the chance to experiment with different workouts!

Valentine's Day Preppin'

There's only a few hours left before Valentine's Day!
The day dedicated to celebrating love and happiness, and
a day to make an extra gesture. LVP has a list of posts to help
you add a little romantic gesture to your VDay this year. Still
stuck and need some last minute ideas? Take a look at the posts
linked below and you're sure to be inspired!

Take a look at 'Last Minute Cupid' for fun last minute
ideas that wont leave you with nothing on Valentine's Day

Men can be hard to shop for, but hopefully this 'Gift Guide'
complied by LVP and the help of some men with great
taste will set you in the right direction

Here are some more ideas for last minute inspiration
and some DIY options for VDay: 'Cute & Easy Ideas'

A bunch of red roses?! Uh..no thank you. I think they
are so clichéd and overdone...and honestly, just a bouquet
of red roses doesn't look that pretty to me. But of course
everyone's entitled to their own opinion. However, I
think it's a great idea to put together a bouquet of flowers
that say something, or a couple of things. Full of meaning.
And it changes things up a bit, making the bouquet more
unique. Take a look at our guide to 'Flowers' Meaning', a
readers' favourite, to figure out which bloom(s) best fit
your relationship!

And remember, Valentine's Day celebrates 'love'
You can celebrate love even if you're single! So
treat yourself!!

Romancing The Stars - Behind the Scenes with Carousel

This past sunday I had one of the most amazing experience yet. I interned with the renowned wedding planners Leena and Zainab. The fantastic duo behind Carousel pulled off one of the most beautiful outdoor weddings amidst Sunday's horrible cyclone-like weather here in Dubai.

John & Fatina, the bride and groom, wanted the color blue incorporated into their big day. With
Zainab & Leena's talent, the theme 'romancing the stars' was born. And from then on the progression was only more twinkling and elegant as each element was added to the inspiration board.

Here I am with Leena - 50% of the fantastic duo that makes up Carousel.
Clearly she holds up well to several hours on her feet while I look horrible
after just a couple hours

Here are some pictures from the set up - read the captions for details!:
[Stay tuned with Carousel's facebook page for the official pictures of the event]

These chandeliers just sparkled like crazy in the sun light..loved it!

Getting the customized linens on the tables, the color coded chairs in place - you can see the weather wasn't very helpful. i.e. the table cover's flying with the wind!

The chandeliers' hung, the head table out, and as the sun goes down the beautiful hydrangea centerpieces get set up!
Simple and sweet, the wedding cake done by the hotel, against the beautiful backdrop of the Burj!

I was in love with those chandeliers!

Almost there... The menus (vintage like frames held the menu) and candles set on the table

The menus, and glitter numbers for the tables [these coordinated with the bride and groom chairs!]

Yay, pretty much done, the head table out...If you know anything about my design side, you know that a scene like this, lights a spark inside me and makes my day...the colors, layerings, all of it! :D

The glitter Bride & Groom signs that highlighted their seats and corresponded with the table numbers! :) That's one of the best parts - when all the little details come together and make such a significant difference in the presentation!

close up of the menus, flowers, and candles at the head table - check out that beautiful lace runner!

Wider view of the space - an the candles that lined the sides of the stairs
I was involved with the reception/cake cutting/after party, which was all held at Magnolia a small restaurant that privately sits on the edge of the canal {you get to travel there by abrahs! (little boats)}, Al Qasr Hotel, while the blessing ceremonies, and all events prior to the reception were held at Al Qasr it self

My BB isn't very good with night time pictures - but here's the cake under the lights

The guests enjoying the beautiful set up and delicious food

The seating charts were displayed on a beautiful vintage-like standing mirror and  the guest book sat
on top an elegant, also vintage inspired, dresser!

The couple's first dance...

The cake cutting!

The romantic look of the head table as the candles are lit after sunset!

A wider view of the whole set up by night...

Flowers' Meaning: Love & Affection

Valentine's Day is around the corner, and a bouquet of flowers are a classic.
A bouquet of just red roses are boring and mundane. In my opinion not that pretty
either. One rose yes, a bunch, no. Here are other flowers that have meanings
of affection, love, & lovable sayings/phrases. Keep this for reference for all through
the year [a bouquet on a random day, just because, is never a bad idea!], and even
share this with the man in your life.

Enjoy!

Picture Perfect

This Picture Perfect Wedding via Style Me Pretty, has a perfect balance of incorporating yellow into its color scheme. They yellow adds a modern touch but just the right amount is used, keeping the whole look somewhat traditional (yet not boring and standard). The hints of turquoise also enhance the brides gorgeous blue eyes which stand out with the heavy lines and red lips!

We love the necklace. The perfect red lips. & The sincerity and realness in the photos.

Enjoy...
