Healthy Hair: Home Remedy Tips From Celebrity Stylist Asgar Boo

If you've been following the blog/me long enough you probably know I'm one to always try out home, or natural, remedies. I believe whatever's been given to us on this planet is for our own benefit, and honestly they always have the best results. All the chemicals and unnatural sources in what we use today creates nothing but more problems and issues for us. That's why I always love when I find out new natural remedies/recipes to try when it comes to health and beauty!

I was delighted when I received this email packed with great info from celebrity stylist Asgar Boo, the man behind the hairstyles of celebrities such as Cindy Crawford, Eva Longoria, Aishwarya Rai, and covered by publications from Vogue, to GQ, and The Daily Mail. The simple and easy tips featured below are sure to help you maintain healthy strong hair!

1.     Olive Oil
Try applying a small amount of olive oil to the lengths and ends of the hair to provide moisture to hair which is regularly exposed to the heat and sun.  Avoid the scalp as humidity causes the scalp to get naturally oily anyway.  Do this weekly too if you have dryer, coarser hair.

2.     Honey
Honey is a kitchen cupboard staple and a natural ingredient which is often found in shop bought hair-care solutions.  The natural moisturizing properties of honey draw in the moisture and will instantly seal into the dry hair that the sun and heat causes.  Try soothing small amounts of honey to the ends of your hair and leave it for an hour or so before rinsing it off thoroughly.  Not only will it provide a pleasant fragrance but it will improve the moisture and shine.

3.     Egg
Although it sounds odd, washing your hair with egg yolks one or twice a week can provide a pure source of protein and fat to frazzled summer hair.  The protein and fat can effectively minimize the effect that the sun, Sea, Chlorine and humidity have on causing limp, dry locks.  Make sure your hair is damp when you do this and carefully rub one egg yolk into the scalp.  Leave this for approximately 20 minutes and then rinse it out thoroughly for that extra strong hair boost.

4.     Eat Right
It may seem like the most simple of home remedies but it really can be the most effective.  What one eats is a huge factor in the state of one’s hair condition.  During the summer months where you have adverse weather conditions against you, make sure to load up on protein filled foods such as fish, nuts, spinach and Greek-yogurt containing all the right nutrients to keep your hair looking thick and healthy.  Not only will your hair reap the rewards, but your waistline might also.

Sleeping Beauty: 1

Many of us suffer from a lack of sleep. Some of us just find that we don't
have enough hours in a day to fit in a good amount of sleep. While some of
us just find it hard to go to sleep sometimes if not always.

LVP will be going through the importance of sleep, and tips on how to try
& get more sleep as well make it easier to fall asleep, over a of series posts
under the feature name "Sleeping Beauty"

1. Importance: Recover from your day!
One of the main reasons of sleep and the importance tied to it
is that during those hours of Zzz's, the body repairs, goes under
maintenance, etc. Why? Your body redirects it's energy and uses
it towards your metabolism, nutrition towards skin, regenerating
new cells, etc. So let's concentrate on the skin today...

When your sleeping your body has the chance to rebuild and repair.
It moisturizes your skin (hence you perspire often in your sleep), and
your body has the chance to regenerate new skin cells - faster than at
any other point during the dayand increased production of collagen
which is like your natural Botox, keeping your skin tight and firm.
This means better looking skin & healthier skin. When you're resting,
blood circulation is also more efficient which means radiant skin.

Make sure you try and get those zzz's!
Stay tuned for the other parts coming over the next few weeks!

Going Bananas for Beauty

I love a good au naturale beauty recipe.

I believe that everything on this planet serves a purpose and is given to us for our use. I try my best to stay away from chemicals and pills and all that!

A recent post on hudabeauty.com inspired me to share the benefits of bananas with you!

There are so many! Bananas are a great snack too. Every time you feel hungry, have a banana, it's so full of goodies (vitamins and minerals), low in fat, and boost your mood (serotonin level) and energy levels, making it a great snack to have at your work place as well!

I always have bananas stocked up in my house. They are high in potassium and rich in vitamin A, B6 and B12 which means they're great for preventing hair loss, beautifying your skin, & strong nail growth.

It's great properties, including being anti-fungal help allergic reactions and itches. Just rub the peel on the irritated area

Mashing up a couple bananas and applying them to your face, chest, or any part of your body (skin), keeping it for a couple hours and then rinsing off, is a great recipe for anti wrinkling, restoring needed vitamins and mineral in your skin, & beautifying your skin further.

It also a great moisturizer for you skin.
I feel like the benefits list is endless! They're that good for you.

Did you know: that the whole banana tree is considered a herb, which basically means you can eat everything from the banana to its peel, to the roots of the tree! I wonder how healing the parts of the tree are, the must be backed with vitamins and great properties!

Tip: Some people just can't eat bananas, but apparently if you sprinkle just a bit of pepper on the banana, it works wonders! It sounds strange but is supposed to work great!

On a side note - I can't finish this post without mentioning this - Speaking of bananas, but in another sense, I personally love Banana pudding, wether homemade or bakery bought. Specifically Magnolia Bakery's. It's delish!!

If you haven't already, you have to try all of the above..the banana benefits, and the pudding ;)

Until Next Time
